The Media Club is a dynamic, faith-rooted learning space where students explore, analyze, and create media with purpose and ethical responsibility. Through engaging, hands-on experiences across four levels, students are equipped to:

  • Navigate today’s digital media landscape with critical thinking and spiritual grounding.

  • Challenge stereotypes and reclaim Muslim narratives.

  • Develop creative, tech, and communication skills guided by Islamic principles of truth, justice, and accountability.

The complete Media Club course is divided into 4 Levels. Each Level runs as a term-based course with progressive skill-building and age-appropriate content.

Level 1

Lens of Truth

Theme: Introduction to Faithful Media & Visual Storytelling

Learning Goals:

  • Understand what media is and how it affects minds, hearts, and societies.

  • Introduce basic videography: framing, shot types, and camera handling.

  • Connect media responsibility with ideological values (truth, modesty, accountability).

Hands-On Skills:

  • Basic camera use (phones or tablets)

  • Shot composition: rule of thirds, angles

  • Simple lighting (natural and single-source setups)

Level 2

Frame & Faith

Theme: Visual Composition & Ethical Messaging

Learning Goals:

  • Learn the art of visual storytelling and ethical content creation.

  • Understand composition, lighting balance, and beginner editing.

  • Explore audience targeting, bias, and intention in media.

Hands-On Skills:

  • Rule of thirds, symmetry, leading lines

  • 3-point lighting basics (key, fill, backlight)

  • Editing basics with CapCut/iMovie (cuts, transitions, text overlays)

  • Audio: Recording clear voiceovers

Level 3

Story & Spirit

Theme: Cinematic Storytelling & Representation

Learning Goals:

  • Craft longer, structured video stories with spiritual depth.

  • Dive into advanced shot planning, transitions, and sound design.

  • Analyze and challenge common misrepresentations in media.

Hands-on Skills:

  • Advanced storyboarding & scripting

  • Movement shots (pans, tilts, tracking with gimbals/tripods)

  • Editing: color grading, audio balancing, text animations

  • Interview setup and framing (2-camera setup, lighting)

Level 4

Social/Moral Change

Through Digital

Theme: Campaigns, Social Good, and Digital Influence

Learning Goals:

  • Learn to build campaigns for truth, justice, and unity

  • Master media production workflows and creative direction

  • Reflect deeply on the intention and responsibility of digital influence

Hands-On Skills:

  • Multi-platform content planning (Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, etc.)

  • Branding, thumbnails, title strategy

  • Collaborative production: team roles, feedback rounds

  • Campaign planning: using media to serve a cause

  • Phones or tablets with good cameras

  • Basic tripod

  • Clip-on mic or voice recorders

  • CapCut, Canva, iMovie, Google Slides/Docs

About the Teacher

Ms. Aneeqa Sheikh, MS Media Studies (General Entertainment Content), BS Media Sciences (Film & Video Production)

Aneeqa Sheikh holds a Master's in Media Studies, specializing in General Entertainment Content and a Bachelor's in Media Sciences with a concentration in Film and Video Production, both from SZABIST, Karachi, Pakistan. She was awarded a gold medal and featured on the Chancellor's Honor Roll for her academic excellence during her Master's. With a passion for education, she has taught Media Studies for CAIE Cambridge A levels. A documentary filmmaker by profession, she currently runs a media house that specializes in making documentaries and digital marketing content.
